In the middle is Father Sirico, who warns against two predominant and equally wrongheaded decision-making tendencies: to rely purely on reason on the one hand and fideism on the other, which he calls the “I’m just trusting on the Lord and I’m not going to think about it” approach. He suggests depending on reason but recognizing that reason alone doesn’t explain all the mysteries of life.
